Since 1995, Suitcase Languages has provided intensive and targeted Dutch language training, tailored to the needs of highly educated people. Originally an evening school in Almere, Suitcase talen is now the go-to place for expats and migrants who want to learn Dutch quickly and effectively. This is all thanks to the perseverance and vision of Margreet Kwakernaak.
From teaching as a passion…
Margreet began her career as a teacher in secondary schools and adult education. After studying Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Amsterdam, she combined teaching for years with building her own school. In 1995, Suitcase Languages evening school was born: a place where language education is infused with professional dedication and a clear structure.

In 2011, Margreet decided to teach all the lessons herself, thus finding her niche: highly educated students who want to achieve results quickly. That choice formed the basis for the efficient, refined curriculum that characterizes Suitcase talen today, from private Dutch lessons to specialized exam preparation.
Expert teacher and author
After ten years of independent teaching, Margreet published her first bestseller: Dutch for Dummies. Seven more NT2 study books followed, including the popular Verbs in Action series – proof of Margreets continued focus on quality and practical application. These books are used worldwide by Dutch students who want to strengthen their grammar and vocabulary.
A school in motion, adapted to your life
In the early years, the program consisted of evening classes in Almere, but Suitcase talen quickly grew into a versatile language school. In 2011, Margreet opted for a complete focus on highly educated people. From 2020 onwards, all classes were offered online, combining the Delft Method e-learning with conversation lessons via video calling. Further innovations were added, such as a modular course structure and automated registration and scheduling systems.
